April Newsletter: A Look Through the Rosebush
Hello, Roses!
Happy April, everybody! April is actually one of my favourite months of the year. It’s when spring really comes to life on our island and the days oscillate between gorgeous, cool sunshine and cozy rainstorms. We met the deadline to hand in the first draft of BROKEN BY DAYLIGHT to our editor at Magpie, and I’m very proud of us! This book is definitely the fastest pace we’ve ever gone from outline to completed draft. With it being the fourth book, we’re so familiar with the characters and the world, that I think that helped the story come into shape. I’m excited to hear what our beta readers and editor say about Rosie’s new adventure! In the meantime, we’ve been working on the beginnings of a couple other projects. Hoping to get those materials wrapped up before we get edits back next week!
Forged by Malice Audiobook!
Did you see?! The FORGED BY MALICE audiobook is out in the world! Listening to Robert Hatchet narrate the scene where [redacted] goes to the [redacted] and Stefanie Kay finally voice [redacted] when they’re visited by [redacted] is pure MAGIC! Head over to Audible for a copy - in my humble opinion, it’s a great way to ‘re-read’ before Broken by Daylight, as I’m a strong believer that listening to audiobooks breathes brand-new life into stories!

New Art!
Here’s what you’re really for, isn’t it? ;) We are so thrilled to share this absolutely gorgeous piece of Rosalina and Caspian! This art is done by the fabulous Salome Totladze! We’re so excited to say more portraits of Rosie and the other princes are in the works as well. Definitely give Salome a follow, because she’s incredible! (P.S. You’re getting a sneak peek at this art for being a newsletter subscriber so please don’t share it elsewhere until Friday, April 12th!)
What We’re…
Helen:
Watching: I watched the new Lindsay Lohan movie Irish Wish and it was SO cute. I've never been to Ireland but it's on my bucket list!
Listening To: I've been listening to a new playlist for a project we're writing a proposal for! This story has lived in my heart for decades and I'm soooo excited to put it to words. (Wish us all the luck with this one!)
Reading: I said this last month, but I just re-read another old project of ours for reasons
Elizabeth:
Watching: Still catching up on Shogun! I’m thinking when we’re done this, I should start a rewatch of House of the Dragon to prep for Season 2
Listening To: Oof, I’ll be honest, I haven’t been listening to much! My head’s been very busy with my own thoughts 🤣
Reading: I just finished re-reading WOVEN BY GOLD’s pass pages (basically the final-final copy) for it’s rerelease with Magpie this Summer. Can’t believe we were writing it a year ago!
Author Spotlight
Happy Release Day to the wonderful Ariella Isabella!
“Sometimes it's the people who hurt us the most that turn out to be our greatest love.”
After watching my village be burned to the ground by elves, I feel the darkness stir below my skin and bones. This deep itch, and voiceless whisper tells me that there’s a way to get my revenge if I only take the hand that’s offered to me. What I didn’t expect was for that hand to be attached to the Lord of Death, and come at the expense of my sanity and heart.
Accepting help from Death was only the first plunge into the magical world, and following him to the Fae kingdom of Nádine certainly won’t be the last. King Caspian rules over the Glass Court, a gilded cage where I am trapped with beasts who’s eyes roam over me with disdain. When the king takes an interest in me beyond my strange powers, the target on my back grows.
My abilities have drawn the attention of King Silas, the elf responsible for the inferno that engulfed my home. He’ll stop at nothing to capture me, and use my powers for his crusade across the continent.
My dreams haunt me, and the shadows linger around every corner. The dark power inside of me is alluring, and it promises to satiate my lust for retribution, but at what cost? How long can I conceal my magic? A secret I’ve only ever shared with Death.
A Secret Shared with Death is the first book in the Gods from the Oblivion Series that's perfect for those who like a dash of romance with their trauma. Great for readers who enjoyed The Book of Azrael, The Plated Prisoner Series & the Blood and Ash Series.
