December Newsletter: A Look Through the Rosebush
Hello, Roses!
Here we are, at the end of 2023. I did a lot of reflection in the last newsletter, so I’ll save you from that in this one. I will say - thank you so much for being here, for following along with both our and Rosie’s journey this past year. I know many magical things are coming up for this fandom in 2024, and I’m manifesting many more!
We took a week off this month to do some travelling with my husband and our parents. It was really nice to take some time just to “be”. We haven’t stepped away from the hustle and bustle of small business life in over a year, so it felt like a much needed break. Even when we were in Scotland, we were still working most nights from our hostels and cell phones! We both experienced really bad burn-out in September 2022 from the publishing world (though it’s what led us to created BRIAR, so it did do it’s job, I suppose!) and although I didn’t feel like I was at that level again, I can definitely feel the weariness setting in. We’ll be taking a little bit more time away over Christmas, with the aim to come back raring to go in January. We have 2024 basically planned out day-by-day, and the beginning of January is filled with series planning and book outlining - one of my favorite parts of the process!

FORGED Month!
Holy guacamole. FORGED is out in the world! Thank you all for your warm welcome, your patience with the rights transfer, your theories, your outrage, your joy and tears and sharing and recommending and reviews and just THANK YOU. Ever since we came up with BONDED BY THORNS, we imagined it as a seven-part series. We felt so strongly about our characters, we wanted to give them the space to rise … and to fall. Knowing you’re all along for the ride just fills our hearts to the brim. Promise, there are bright horizons ahead in Book 4 … with a suitable amount of angst as well 🤣

Many of you have started asking about Book 3! Production starts January 22nd. We never have an exact date on completion, but I would guess late Spring 2024!

Watching: I’ve been watching some Christmas movies. The Holiday is my all-time favourite!
Listening To: Lots of Christmas music and some songs to get me in the vibe for Broken by Daylight. El Tango de Roxanne has all the angst I need to write that book!
Reading: I just finished rereading all three of our own books! Can’t wait to dive into a fun Christmas book this week though!

Watching: My husband and I needed a new sitcom so we started watching Friends! It’s a favourite of mine, but his first time watching it!
Listening To: Christmas classics pretty much!
Reading: For Christmas, I got myself and my three oldest friends each a copy of Britney Spears’ memoir, as we grew up listening her!
